The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has officially released the notification for the Central Teacher Eligibility Test (CTET) December 2024. Teachers wishing to qualify for teaching posts at primary (classes 1 to 5) and junior (classes 6 to 8) level can apply online for CTET Paper I and Paper II from 17 September 2024 to 16 October 2024. This national level exam is the gateway for candidates who want to make a career in teaching in both government and private schools across India.

Important Dates

Application Fee

  • For Single Paper:
    General/ OBC/ EWS : Rs. 1000/-
    SC/ST/PH : Rs. 500/-
  • For both papers Primary / Junior:
    General/ OBC/ EWS: Rs. 1200/-
    SC/ ST/ PH: Rs. 600/-
  • Pay the Exam Fee Through Debit Card, Credit Card, Net Banking or E-Challan.

Eligibility Criteria

Before applying, candidates must ensure that they fulfil the eligibility criteria for Paper I, Paper II or both. Take a detailed look at the required qualifications:

CTET Primary Level (Class I to V): Eligibility with Code December 2024

  • Passed Senior Secondary (or its equivalent) with at least 50% marks and passed or appearing in final year of 2-year Diploma in Elementary Education (by whatever name known) OR
  • Passed Senior Secondary (or its equivalent) with at least 45% marks and passed or appearing in final year of 2-year Diploma in Elementary Education (by whatever name known) in accordance with the NCTE (Recognition Norms and Procedure), Regulations, 2002. OR
  • Passed Senior Secondary (or its equivalent) with at least 50% marks and passed or appearing in final year of 4-year Bachelor of Elementary Education (B.El.Ed).
  • Senior Secondary (or its equivalent) with at least 50% marks and passed or appearing in final year of 2-year Diploma in Education (Special Education).

CTET Junior Level (Class VI to VIII): Eligibility with Code December 2024

  • Graduation and passed or appearing in final year of two-year Diploma in Elementary Education (by whatever name known).
  • Minimum 50% marks in Graduation or Post Graduation and passed or appearing in final year of Bachelor in Education (B.Ed).
  • Graduation with at least 45% marks and passed or appearing in final year of Bachelor of Education (B.Ed), in accordance with the NCTE (Recognition Norms and Procedure) regulations issued from time to time in this regard.
  • Passed Senior Secondary (or its equivalent) with at least 50% marks and passed or appearing in final year of 4-year Bachelor in Elementary Education (B.El.Ed).
  • Senior Secondary (or its equivalent) with at least 50% marks and passed or appearing in final year of 4-year B.A./B.Sc.Ed or B.A.Ed/B.Sc.Ed.
  • Graduation with at least 50% marks and passed or appearing in final year of B.Ed. (Special Education).
  • Any candidate who has passed B.Ed. Programme recognized by NCTE is eligible to appear in TET/CTET. Further, as per the existing TET guidelines circulated vide NCTE letter dated 11-02-2011, any person who is pursuing any one of the teacher education courses (recognized by NCTE or RCI, as the case may be) specified in the NCTE Notification dated 23rd August 2010 is also eligible to appear in TET/CTET.
  • Post Graduate with minimum 55% marks or equivalent grade and passed or appearing in final year of three-year Integrated B.Ed.-M.Ed.
